Karen Cattel is a special artist and her whimsical art looks great on the two sturdy totes I purchased. One is a gift for a friend and the other is for me. I love them.

I so appreciate being able to have this old-fashioned outdoor dinner scene on a tote bag. It is adorable. Thank you for making it available.

I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

The photo does have a painterly quality about it. I was looking at some Yukon Jack Canadian Whiskey ads from the 70s with excerpts from the poems of Robert Service. The ads have some impressive artwork. The quotes and the art compliment each other. I read that Robert Service considers his writing verse, rather than poetry.

Hi, Is this painting of the Robert Service cabin from the Yukon Territory? I made a river trip on the Yukon by kayak in 1961, and I remember a cabin which was from a famous writer of northern tales, and now I am wondering if I mistook a Jack London cabin for the Robert Service, or if they were both there on the river from the 1930s or early 1900's. Thanks for your reply!
Priska Wettstein replied:
Hi Suzanne, Robert Service was in Dawson City from 1909 to 1912. Jack London was here about 1898 for the Goldrush and his cabin was recovered form Henderson's Corner, which is outside of Dawson City. The Jack London Interpretive Center in Dawson is a replica of the originial loghome, anoterh one seems to be in Oakland, CA, Londons hometown. Both, the Robert Service and the Jack London Cabins are located at 8th Avenue in Dawson City. The image I show here is Robert Service's Cabin. It's a photo, not a painting. You should definetly come and visit again, there has a lot changed since your river trip. (I am sure, that was an amazing trip)

Nice image! I love Robert Service, especially his poem "The Cremation of Sam McGee"! v
Priska Wettstein replied:
Thank you very much Betsy! I have to admit that I didn't know Robert Service until I moved to Canada and I still have to improve my English before I'll be able to read his poems. So by now I am just enjoying to see his cabin in every time of the season, it looks so different in summer when it is surrounded with flowers.
